Federica Buccheri (b. 1995) is a portrait and documentary photographer based in Paris, France.

After leaving her hometown in Sicily to study arts and culture management in Milan, Federica discovered photography while living in Japan between 2018 and 2019.

On her return to Europe, she turned her photographic gaze to the relationships between humans and the architectural spaces they inhabit in the cities where she settled. Her interest in observing how people interact with the places they live in led her to realize how human actions, behaviors and beliefs are profoundly shaped by the space where they build their relationships and communities in. Within the context of this exploration, portrait photography proved a perfect means to attempt to capture such revelations.

Today, she is enrolled in a one-year intensive photography course at EFET Photographie school in Paris to perfect her skills. Working mainly with film, she questions the meaning of cultural identity in contemporary societies, investigating how present-day events re-shape and re-define it. Using both color and black and white, she explores humans’ cultural heritage of traditions and practices, including religious celebrations, social rituals, and people's relationship with their territory.

Strongly influenced by her arts management background, Federica believes in the cultural and political power of images to tell the story of modern humans and societies.
